New Veggie Garden, Spring-Summer, 2009

In the late spring, I decide a good project would be to remove all the soil from the garden, make it 12" deeper, raise the garden 4", line 3 sides with 2"-thick pressure-treated lumber, line those sides with 6 mil plastic sheeting, line the bottom and one side with 3/8" hardware cloth to prevent gopher intrusion, and finally sift all the soil before replacing it. Then I installed a deer and turkey fence.

It took a LONG time to complete, but the plants seem to be happy, and so far, no intrusion episodes have occured.
